South Carolina Immunization Coalition
Our mission is to promote the overall health of South Carolina residents through uniting vaccination champions to promote and implement current evidence-based practices and strategies that enhance the uptake of recommended and approved vaccines among all Palmetto State residents.
Action-Oriented Collaboration
South Carolina had the lowest reported HPV vaccination up to date coverage in the US for girls in 2016 (NIS Teen). Several state partners met in early 2017 to discuss how to collaborate to improve adolescent immunization rates in South Carolina, eventually forming the SC Adolescent Immunization Task Force in April 2018.
Based on the energy and work of this pioneering group, the South Carolina Immunization Coalition nonprofit was borne and granted 501c3, tax-exempt status in February 2020.
SCIC is governed by a dedicated Board of Directors and has a robust action plan that includes education, partnership building, and collective impact projects to enhance vaccine uptake among all South Carolinians.
