Action-Oriented Collaboration
South Carolina had the lowest reported HPV vaccination up to date coverage in the US for girls in 2016 (NIS Teen). Several state partners met in early 2017 to discuss how to collaborate to improve adolescent immunization rates in South Carolina, eventually forming the SC Adolescent Immunization Task Force in April 2018.
Based on the energy and work of this pioneering group, the South Carolina Immunization Coalition 501c3 nonprofit was borne in February 2020.
SCIC has a robust action plan that includes education, partnership building, and collective impact projects that enhance vaccine uptake across the lifespan of all South Carolinians.

IMPACT
Accomplishments through Partnership
The thought leaders behind the initial and continuing work of the SCIC have focused on collaborating and proactively engaging in interventions that improve vaccination rates among children, adolescents, and adults in South Carolina. Work is being done across the state by a variety of partners in different settings resulting in improved public awareness, provider focus, and community engagement in the sphere of immunizations.
